Today I'll talk about creatures in fairy tales or mythologies.
I think many people know some of those: such as Dragon, Unicorn, Pegasus, Griffin or and so on, because they have told in all medias. They have part of some animals. For example, Unicorn has one-horn of Narwhal in hose's body, Pegasus has wing in hose's body. Griffin has eagle's head and wing and lion's body.
There are some creatures who don't have part of another animals. For example, Fenrir , the told in Northern myth, is large large wolf. It looks like normal wolf, but there is no wolf such as large one. It's creature. Loogaroo is also wolf, but it is appearance which human turned into it. Cu Sith is large large dog, and Cait Sith is cat who can walk with hind leg (Sith means fairy).
People have created many creatures that people never seen. I don't know they are genuinely came from imagination. Some creatures came from mistake. Person who looked dugong thought it is mermaid. Which is first? Mistake or imagination?

Though mistakes can often become myths over time, I think it is rare that myths become mistakes. If somebody long ago thought that a creature they saw was something else, and described it that way, and it became known that way by others afterward, I think that by it becoming a myth, it serves a purpose to people in one way or another. And that is good.

I see. But I think there are not a few creaters which made from imagination such as "if lions have wings, they would more strong." It looks like when we are in dark and if we scare it, we sometimes think something we know as awful monster.
I think you are absolutely right. Fears can become mythical monsters through our imaginations.
