About Gods

In Japan, there are so many Gods called "Yaoyorozu". Since a long time ago, Japanese believe that there are Gods around them: in earth, woods, things, air and all of existence. As time past, Japanese accept foreign culture. They defeated by Buddhism. Then people started to believe that Gods are spurious appearance: that's substance is Buddas like Amida-Nyorai. But after some age, there was another theory: Buddas are spurious appearance, and Gods are substance. Why Japanese believe these theory? I think it because they are similar in their own nature. And we can look which similar it in Europe. Gods Greek and Roman are often confused, for example , Minerva is confused with Athena. It means people in around the world have same or similar image for supirior existence, I think.

The Japanese seem very good at assimilating that which is unavoidable or in some way good. For example, it often comes as a surprise to many Japanese that McDonald's is not a Japanese invention. Do you think the situation regarding the shift from Shintoism in Japan to the more widespread Buddhism, then the mixing of the two was a similar situation? That is, both were seen as good things and therefore good for Japanese people.

Gods and religions are extremely linked and each one created their Gods to believe. There are many religions around the world, and many religions were influenced and has changed during the past, so we can find many different gods and power. I think the most important thing is that we have to respect others religions and cultures and each one have choices to creed in your own God.

breath1- Perhaps it is true and false. Japanese have assimilated a lot of thought and culture. There are many culture as event in Japan―such as Christmas and Halloween. They don't have meaning in Japan. Beyond that, Japanese assimilated so many things―such as clothes, even kanji. And these formed Japan. So I think assimilating is nature of Japanese. And about Gods is same on that particular Japan, I think.

Reinaldo- I think so,too. Although it is ideal, it is difficult to practice for people. If people could understand and accept each thought each other, we could live without any problem.
